A Sunday that was…
I should have posted this last Sunday - August 10, to be precise. But I couldn’t. Anyway, I am doing it now, munching on a bar of chocolate. Actually two bars of Amul Almond Bar…
I had a lousy start to the day, as was expected by everyone at home. I had promised Mom that I will pay all the bills and buy some vegetables today. It was raining like hell outside - as if the rain Gods were punishing us for blaming them for the droughts this year. Whatever be the case, I had to go!

Update : On further enquiry, I found out that the ad was for a shop available on rent. There was no plot (or polt) for sale!!!

Taking the plunge!
After much fiddling and thinking, I have come to a ground breaking decision (for me, that is!!!).
I have been breaking my head over my system running Windows XP from quite sometime now. Even after setting up so much protection using the Big3 : Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Internet Security, my PC succumbed to a bunch of viruses and a dozen trojans and it finally crashed!
Then followed the famous procedure >> Format HDD >> Reinstall OS >> Update OS (Oh! SP3 is released) >> Find (or rather ‘Hunt’ would be the right term for a 7 year old machine like mine!) and Install Drivers >> Install the Big3 >> Update the Big3>> Restore Backups. Phew!!!

The trip : Belgaum to Bangalore…
My younger brother and me were all set to go to Bangalore. I did a last minute check on everything - Reservation tickets ( to and fro ), water, packed dinner and other required stuff. I also checked on my brother to see whether he has taken all the necessary documents for his admission at AHA. All set and done.
The train was supposed to leave Belgaum at 6.45 pm. We arrived well in time on the station (a 10 min walk from our house). The train arrived half an hour late and our seats were AC-3 tier B2 with nos 2 & 3 (or thats what i thought!). I had checked the seat numbers on the tickets when i bought it. So there was no need to check it again. We went straight into the coach and occupied the seats. I noticed that there a was a book lying on one of the seats. “The Motorcycle Diaries” by Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara. Hmmm… may be the person who had the seat earlier left it or forgot it here. Anyways, it would be a good read, i thought.
Just before the train left the station, an old man (bald and looking very shewd) got in and sat infront of us. “Mine is 4″, he said. I tried to smile but could only put up a fake one… Same was the case with my bro. [Read more →]
